Civic TV Laboratories is pleased to present Alex Tu's installation Planned Obsolescence, a two room installation featuring print and lighting work exploring themes of paradise as processed through socio-political, economic, and mythic forces; in the front room images of a capitalist paradise pictured as an iconic beach vacation stands in stark contrast to the red lit interior room's repeated images of a Chairman Mao figurine photographed from an infomercial on a Chinese TV station.

Planned Obsolescence will run through December 2014.
